Things didn’t go so well last week. My son was sick, and his birthday was Friday. As a result, events combined to ensure I didn’t get anywhere near my exercise goals for the week. Also, I sort of blew my calorie goals the last few days – birthday cake is another of my Achilles’ Heels, and for various reasons (few good) I ended up eating out most of the weekend.
With all of this in mind, I’m pleasantly surprised that I didn’t gain any weight with my official weigh-in this weekend. I mean I didn’t lose any weight, which was a little disappointing. But I didn’t gain. So I’ll take the minor success.
This week, it’s back up on the goals. I’m not going to increase my walking distance goal – since I didn’t even meet my goal last week – but I’m going to be hitting 5.3 miles a day and climbing 20 flights of stairs. And I’ll be keeping myself to no more than 2,400 calories. After writing about plateaus last week, I don’t want to be hitting one this week. And besides, it’s six weeks until the next day where I’ll find myself justifying ignoring my calorie goal for one day.
Yep, that’s right. Six weeks until we officially kick off Overeating Season, also known as “that time between Thanksgiving and New Years where we all stuff ourselves sick”. It’ll be interesting to see how well I do, during the holidays.
